sarah linsey - biography
I have been practising yoga for over 15 years and attended my first yoga class in London with Julie Friedeberger a BWY teacher in the early 1990’s. I was hooked immediately, the calm and relaxation I felt after the class was very much in contrast with the high pace of the television industry that I was working in at the time.
My interest and fascination with yoga led me to complete a two year training course with the London Yoga Teacher Training in 2005. The course director is Chloe Freemantle and teachers include Peter Blackaby, Giovanni Felicioni and Anne-Marie Zulkahari. The course is accredited by the British Wheel of Yoga.
In 2006 I completed the Calm for Kids training course with Christiane Kerr, qualifying me to teach yoga to children of all ages. I enjoyed this so much that I then completed the British Wheel of Yoga Children’s Module with Michelle Cheesbrough in 2008.
I currently teach regular Yoga classes to adults and children in and around the Sevenoaks area. I also teach one to one yoga and workshops.
I am a co-teacher on the LYTTG (London Yoga Teacher Training Group) BWY accredited two year yoga teacher training course 2015-2017 with teachers such as Peter Blackaby, Anne-Marie Zulkahari, Lisa McRory and Cara Bowen. In 2015 with my colleague Bridget Thornborrow I ran a four month Introductory course for the LYTTG for students wishing to take the main teacher training course. In 2016 we are running another London based 5 day course entitled Deepen Your Practice with the LYTTG for experienced students and teachers'
In 2014 I completed an 8 week Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction course (MBSR) with Bridgette O'Neil and Ed Halliwell, author of the Mindful Manifesto. I regularly attend graduate Mindfulness sessions with Ed Halliwell and integrate this mindful approach into my yoga teaching.
I am a regular course trainer for Calm for Kids with Christiane Kerr on their Children’s Yoga Training courses in London, teaching adults to teach yoga to children.
I also have a strong interest in ante-natal yoga and, as well as teaching students who are pregnant in my classes, I have taught classes for Yogabirth teacher Lynda Hills in Petts Wood. I attended Active Birth classes myself in London with Janet Balaskas during my first pregnancy and later with Becky Richards in Bromley whom I also assisted in her classes.
During 2011 I was invited to teach a series of Yoga workshops for Young Elite Athletes at the Canterbury High School by School Sports Coordinator Chris Wallis. They covered a range of subjects from flexibility, core strength and relaxation.
From 1994 to 1997 I attended a three year Shiatsu Course with the European School of Shiatsu.
